EN LA CORONA DE CASTILLA: LAS PROMOCIONES
ARTÍSTICAS COMO INSTRUMENTO DE INTEGRACIÓN
SOCIAL (SS. XV-XVII)*

RESUMEN: En este trabajo se plantea el estado de la cuestión en torno a la investigación sobre el
patrimonio judeoconverso castellano, incluyendo en el mismo las manifestaciones artísticas pro-
movidas tanto por los judíos convertidos al cristianismo como por sus sucesores. Para ello se
realiza un recorrido por algunos de los estudios sobre elementos del patrimonio judeoconverso
identificados, así como por otros muchos que aún están por identificar, en base a los trabajos
que permiten hacerlo. Como conclusiones se destacan la importancia que este tipo de iniciativas
tuvieron en los procesos de integración de los judeoconversos en la sociedad de la época, la nece-
sidad de revisar la bibliografía disponible y profundizar en la investigación a partir del estudio
de nuevas fuentes, así como de promover el trabajo interdisciplinar entre historiadores e histo-
riadores del arte con el objetivo de seguir avanzando en el conocimiento del tema.

THE STUDIES ON JUDEOCONVERSO HERITAGE IN THE CROWN CASTILLA: ARTISTIC
PROMOTIONS AS AN INSTRUMENT OF SOCIAL INTEGRATION (15TH-17TH CENTURIES)
ABSTRACT: This work presents the current status of the issue of Castilian judeoconverso heritage,
including in it the artistic manifestations promoted both by Jews converted to Christianity, and
by their successors. For this purpose, an analysis is done of some of the studies on identified
Judeconverso heritage, as well as others that are still to be identified as such, based on the exis-
ting works that allow us to do it. As conclusions, it is highlighted the importance that this type
of initiatives had in the processes of integration of the Jewish converts in the society of the time,
the need to review the available bibliography and to deepen in the investigation through the
study of new sources, as well as to promote the interdisciplinary work between historians and
art historians with the aim of continuing advancing in the knowledge of the subject.

1. Introducción

Este artículo surge de la necesidad de conocer el estado de la cuestión
en torno al patrimonio judeoconverso castellano, tomando en conside-
ración los trabajos sobre manifestaciones artísticas promovidas por los
conversos de origen judío y sus sucesores, en tanto que tales iniciativas
